Hospitality business and carnival time
I'm glad you're back reading my blog about Malta! Every 2 weeks I prepare something interesting so YOU can learn something new about this marvellous country and about my life on the island.
It's my pleasure to have you read my stories!
I told you little about the town where I work. Sliema, despite being touristic, is a major commercial area, popular for shopping, bars, cafes and restaurants. Sliema was once a quiet fishing village but has now become a town with the most Malta's tall buildings. On my way to/from work, I can see quite a number of people enjoy their morning run along the promenade or return with a couple of bags from the shopping centre The Point (on the picture). Sliema has it all: busy streets during the lunchtime and a bit of quietness at the end of the working day. At work, I'm entitled to a 1-hour lunch break, which I can spend while getting tanned on the bench next to the seafront or window shopping with my colleagues.
The company I work for - Gold Lion Holding http://glmalta.com/ is a group of several companies: Gold Lion Real Estate, Gold Lion Holiday and Gold Lion Development. Gold Lion Real Estate offers property solutions to buy or rent either for residential or commercial purposes. On the image, you can see our Gold Lion ResidenSea - a guesthouse situated in the heart of Malta that offers excellent short-term or long-term holiday accommodation. Gold Lion ResidenSea forms a part of Gold Lion Holiday http://holiday.glmalta.com/.
This week it was the first time for me to visit ResidenSea premises and meeting the whole team. The exciting part of my internship is working for the holding because the experience that I get is diverse. Real Estate and holiday accommodation are completely different non-related areas which now, in fact, interest me so much! I must say hospitality business is very enjoyable, although requires a lot of creativity. On the pictures below you will see a breakfast and a reception zone.
Gold Lion ResidenSea has only opened its doors in July 2017, with the number of rooms adding up to 25. As you might have already noticed our company colours are gold and grey, therefore there is always a yellowish touch in the design.
As you might know, February & March are Europe's carnival months which mainly involve public celebration or parade combining some elements of circus, masks and public street party. My friends and I had a chance to be a part of such performance in Valetta - the capital of Malta.

Saturday 17 of February I attended one very useful event. It was organised by AIESEC - an independent non-commercial political youth organisation and hosted by Microsoft Malta. The mentioned event was aimed at young professionals with the purpose of expanding their views, increasing CSR value amongst youngsters and inspiring them with success stories. During that occasion, I have managed to find some great minds to share time with and have listened to amazing guest speakers with not less exciting experience.

As well as inspirational stories, quotes also help improve productivity. In our Gold Lion ResidenSea we have one in every room - real travellers' treasure!
