First weeks in the country of The Game of Thrones

Did you know that Malta was one of the top locations when shooting a known to everyone set of series - The Game of Thrones? Yes?! Well, I didn’t. It was to my surprise to find out a couple of days before arriving in this little country that it has so much to offer: the Mediterranean climate, great food, interesting mix of cultures, promising iGaming industry and my favourite series :)

As a part of my studies I have been given an amazing opportunity - undergo a practical training (internship) abroad. The choice of the country has fallen on Malta because I was accepted for a Marketing position at Gold Lion Holding - a startup, with Real Estate being the main focus of the company (see company website).

It was a matter of luck and coincidence as my other 2 friends (Alla and Belinda) were also offered to do their internships by 2 different Maltese companies (in fact, another Real Estate and an English school). We were desperately looking for an apartment to live together in that would make it convenient for everyone to get to work. We must say it’s nearly impossible to find an accommodation without using the services of an agency, however our problem was quickly solved as my hosting company offered us some help! :)

On the day of arrival, Gold Lion Holding held a year opening event which I had been invited to attend. Of course, I could not decline such an excellent opportunity to meet my future colleagues even though I knew I would be quite late because of the arrival arrangements.

I met all the company employees on January 27th and on January 29th my internship has begun!

With the company’s office located in the busiest part of Malta, town Sliema, I am working with the team of 2 very talented Marketing Executives - Diana Iskander and Elgars Pukitis. We have our own cozy Marketing corner which enables us to work up-to-date and solve any problems that come up together; all this while having some fun!

During the first weeks of my internship I had been absorbing lots of data about the company, the Real Estate market, the country and myself! Among the performed tasks the following are the examples: Facebook posts (preparing visuals), research on the promotional items suppliers, creative content writing (for our company blog post, read it here), international property fairs research, international trip planning, competitor overview and a few more. I’m fond of performing these tasks and glad there is a vast choice. My supervisor, Diana Iskander, frequently asks for my feedback on the activities and ensures I have an enjoyable semester with Gold Lion :)

There is so much more I have to say, but I prefer more frequent blogs and less content so you, dear readers, stay interested! I must say I’ve already learnt a lot about myself and how much I’m actually capable of doing. To improve my skills, I’m planning to soon launch my first vlog so be careful not to miss it out :) Stay tuned for more blogs and vlogs!

Beautiful, isn’t it?
